Take Action!
NOW is the time to contact your Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and urge him/her to vote in favor of the FY 2008 Labor-Health and Human Services-Education Appropriations bill, H.R. 3043, the funding bill that provides resources for the vast majority of federal programs of critical importance to people with disabilities and their families.
The bill is scheduled for a vote on the House floor this Wednesday, July 18.
H.R. 3043 includes about $7 billion more than the FY 2007 Labor-HHS-Education appropriation, $10.6 billion more than the President's budget proposal and $2.3 billion more than the Senate. It includes increases over FY 2007 levels for:
- The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and for No Child Left Behind;
- Child Health and Human Development and other vital research at the National Institutes of Health;
- Community services grants and job training; and
- Other critical programs for children and adults with disabilities and their families.
WE NEED 290 VOTES to help ensure an override of the expected Presidential veto!
