Investigation into Medicare’s wheelchair and scooter coverage policies

Disability Rights Advocates, a nonprofit law center in Oakland, California, is investigating complaints about Medicare’s wheelchair and scooter coverage policies.

Please contact them if you were unable to get a power wheelchair or scooter because you:

• needed it for use outside the home,
• were able to walk short distances, or
• had not proven sufficient upper extremity weakness.

Also contact them if you, for any of the reasons listed above, had to pay out-of-pocket for the wheelchair or scooter you needed.
