What happened to the website I’m familiar with? The www.cms.hhs.gov website has been completely redesigned. The new website employs a user-friendly design to get visitors the information they need with the least amount of clicks. It introduces one-stop shopping “centers” targeted to specific professionals such as providers and partners, who frequent the site. For more information see Attachment 2: the Content Model – which shows the way the content is organized.
Why did you change the website? The website was redesigned to be in compliance with the OMB Federal Website Guidelines and was tested with users to provide a more user-centered approach to the navigation and organization of content.
How did you come up with the new design/look for the website? The new look for the website was designed to follow the OMB Federal Website Guidelines, the section 508 requirements, and to be more user-centered in the navigation and organization of content.
How can I find what I’m looking for? See Attachment 2 – the content model will show you how content is laid out on the new website and gives snapshots of the 8 major content areas. Also try using the “Browse by Audience” and “Browse by Subject” Centers found at the bottom right of the home page.

If you are unable to find what you are looking for, use the “Contact CMS” http://www.cms.hhs.gov/ContactCMS/ page to submit feedback. There are three links at the bottom of the page to submit general, technical or redesign-related feedback. The feedback tool will be monitored closely to help answer any questions with the launch of the new website.

If you have a link to the old website or saved as a bookmark or favorite page, you may be redirected to the new location on the redesigned website automatically. Who will maintain the pages on the website? Staff across the agency help to maintain the cms.hhs.gov website. The roles involved for maintaining content are:

Contributing Editors - write, enter, and maintain the content on the website.

Section Editors - responsible for reviewing and approving proposed content for a specific section of the website. Section Editors are senior decision-makers and are the final approver in the clearance process and will digitally authorize every document posted to the website. A Section Editor must be a manager.
How do I find out who the lead/ Subject Matter Experts is for each section? How do I contact that person? Use the “Contact CMS” http://www.cms.hhs.gov/ContactCMS/ page to submit feedback. There are three links at the bottom of the page to submit general, technical or redesign-related feedback. The feedback tool will be monitored closely to help answer any questions with the launch of the new website.

Feedback will be directed to the appropriate contributing editor, subject matter expert, or section editor.
