Lubbock County Required To Have Disability-Friendly Voting Machines
February, 2005

A federal mandate to buy disability-friendly voting machines could cripple the local elections office budget.

The feds require election precinct offices across the country to have at least one disability-friendly machine by January 1, 2006.

In Lubbock, there will be 90 precincts by that date and taxpayers may have to pay for all the machines.

You can tell the Lubbock County Elections Office what you think about it at a town hall meeting on February 23 and 28 at the Lubbock County Elections Office located at 1308 Ave G.

The office will also hold a vendor showcase on March 10 with the latest voting machines on display.
