Senate Rules Committee Testimony
The US Senate Rules Committee held a hearing "Voter Verification in the Federal
Elections Process". AAPD's Vice President of Government Affairs discusses the impact
of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), how the VVPAT removes secret and independent voting,
which violates HAVA's mandates in Section 301(3)(a), because the VVPAT is
not accessible, and therefore discriminates against people with disabilities.
The testimony also discusses voting access for people with disabilities
and how much more there is to accomplish under HAVA.
