Come to Washington, DC on March 7, 2007 for the Premier Disability Event of the Year!
Reasons to Attend the 2007 AAPD Leadership Gala:
- Pay tribute to the recipients of the Paul G. Hearne/AAPD Leadership Awards, Henry B. Betts Award, and Linda Chavez-Thompson Award, all of whom are, through their extensive activities, leadership and advocacy, leaders of the national disability rights movement.
- Meet and spend time with fellow disability rights leaders and advocates.
- Support AAPD's critical national programs, as the gala is AAPD's only annual fundraising event.
- Opportunity to hear keynote remarks from a senior member of the Administration, speaking on issues directly relevant to people with disabilities. (Recent years' keynote speakers have been White House Chief of Staff Andy Card, Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, and Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt.)
- Have the opportunity to meet senior executives from major corporations whose diversity practices include programs and outreach for people with disabilities, and whose philanthropy includes support of programs and outreach that benefit people with disabilities.
- Meet and hear from legislators whose legislation and activities have been supportive of people with disabilities. Award presenters who have participated in recent galas have included Senators Tom Harkin and Sam Brownback, and Reps. Joe Knollenberg, Nick Rahall, Jim Sensenbrenner, Betty McCollum, and Major Owens.
