Frances Vhay Joins As Youth Transitions Fellow
June 21, 2013 | Frances Vhay
Hello AAPD community! My name is Frances Vhay and I am proud to be joining AAPD as the HSC Foundation Youth Transitions Fellow. I am familiar with the AAPD family, having served last spring as a Programs Intern and returning as an AAPD 2012 Summer Intern at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. I am so excited to be returning to AAPD and continuing my work in disability advocacy.
As the Youth Transition Fellow (YTF), I will be working on a variety of programs that focus on youth transition into adulthood and the workforce. I will be facilitating collaboration among internship programs in Greater Washington, DC, as well as working with the Greater Washington Internship Coalition. I will also be creating a database of internship information for youth with disabilities. This is just my first week, so I am sure I will soon be working on many other new and exciting projects!
I already feel very welcomed by AAPD and am so thankful to be joining this wonderful organization. I am also thankful to the HSC Foundation, which helped create the YTF position. I will be working closely with their National Youth Transitions Center, which supports transition for youth with disabilities and veterans. As a person with a disability, I am looking forward to promoting AAPD’s powerful mission and working with all the members of this fantastic team, whom I hope to soon call my friends as well as my colleagues.
