Crossing Religious Lines to Protect Medicaid
December 11, 2012 | Evan Petrone
This week, the Interfaith Disability Advocacy Coalition (IDAC) team at AAPD went into full throttle to finish and hand-deliver a letter to 115 select members of Congress, who have significant influence over Medicaid and influence budget deficit discussions.
The letter aggregated signatures from 27 different IDAC members and national religious organizations; spanning various Christian, Jewish, and Muslim traditions. These groups cross religious lines in favor of supporting all people with disabilities who rely on Medicaid to lead healthy and independent lives. This letter aims to encourage our members of Congress to cross party lines to protect the rights of those on Medicaid.
