Looking for feedback
January 26, 2013 | Randy Cooper
This month I have the incredible opportunity to attend the Assistive Technology Industry Association's (ATIA) Annual Conference in Orlando, FL; from January 30 – February 2, 2013. While attending the ATIA Conference, we plan to open a discussion on the recently announced Disability Equality Index (DEI), which as many of you already know will be an innovative system to objectively rate corporations on disability employment policy and practice.
We are working in partnership with the U.S. Business Leadership Network (USBLN) to create the DEI. Since the index is still under development, while attending the ATIA Conference we plan to talk about our conceptual framework and receive feedback. We hope to use our time at the ATIA Conference as an opportunity to learn from ATIA stakeholders about best practices and ways to incorporate accessibility features and Information Communication Technology (ICT) standards into our equality work project. We have set out 3 key learning points for ourselves and would encourage anyone to provide feedback on them. They are:
- How should AAPD and USBLN partner with employers and the disability community to develop the index?
- How might the DEI Project advance the case for benchmarking and measuring disability equality in the workplace, particularly regarding accessible ICT?
- How can we learn from your knowledge and get you excited about the DEI Project to garner your participation and support?
