What a fantastic night! The 2013 Leadership Awards went off without a hitch. The room was packed, the food was great, and we had leaders and advocates from every walk of life joined together under one roof; honoring the same cause. Rarely in DC will you see the leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sitting at the same table as a democratic governor and a conservative congressman, laughing and sharing ideas about the future of the disability movement. It was a night of true bipartisan camaraderie. We shared food and drink, laughter and even a few tears. Fun was had by all.

If you haven’t had a chance, please check out the videos honoring our two 2013 Hearne Award Winners. George Gallego and Dr. Anjali Forber-Pratt are two outstanding grassroots advocates, enhancing our movement and changing hearts and minds about what it means to have a disability. And if you haven’t already signed up for AAPD’s list, click here to stay up to date on the modern Disability Rights Movement.
