Uniting together under the idea of achieving a common goal is an underlying value within the disability community and one that leads to true change and progress. People with disabilities, advocates, friends, family, organizations, businesses, and more must work together in order to realize access and equality for all people with disabilities. AAPD works every day with all members of the community to achieve this goal.

One such partner we work with is Allsup – a nationwide provider of Social Security disability, Medicare and Medicare Secondary Payer compliance services for individuals, employers and insurance carriers. Founded in 1984, Allsup employs more than 800 professionals who deliver specialized services supporting people with disabilities and seniors so they may lead lives that are as financially secure and as healthy as possible.

On Thursday September 27th between 10am-5pm Eastern, AAPD will be participating in the live Allsup True Help Disability Web Expo. This free, virtual event is designed to help anyone with disabilities or chronic illnesses connect with a wide range of experts and resources to get information on health (including specific conditions), financial planning, Medicare, disability rights, veteran’s disability benefits, caregiving, and more. You can register for the event here: WebExpo.Allsup.com.

AAPD will have a booth at the Exhibition Hall focusing on the issue of employment for people with disabilities. At our booth you will be able to find information about some AAPD programs, such as the Summer Internship Program and the Disability Mentoring Day program, that aim to encourage and increase the employment of people with disabilities. You can also find resources on what your rights are, as outlined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), when dealing with employers.

The Allsup True Help Disability Web Expo will also feature over a dozen leading national health, advocacy, and disability rights organizations to answer questions and share resources. The event and all uploaded content will also be available after the initial live day, so register now and take advantage of this great resource!

Participating organizations include:

  • American Association of People with Disabilities
  • American Parkinson Disease Association
  • Arthritis Foundation
