Zeenia's First Blog

March 11, 2013  |  Zeenia Irani

Hello to all of you avid AAPD blog readers! My name is Zeenia Irani and I am proud to be AAPD’s new Major Gifts Officer. Prior to joining AAPD, I learned how to fundraise in the political world and have worked on a wide variety of progressive campaigns throughout the nation. Politics is a unique animal and I am excited by the prospect of applying old skills to new projects, here at AAPD. I will keep you blog readers apprised of what I am doing and from time to time I will enlist your advice to help us blow our fundraising goals right out of the water!

The entire AAPD family is indisputably awesome, and once again, I am so proud to be a member of such a steadfast team. Thus far, I’ve been working closely with the dauntless Mark Perriello, precocious Henry Claypool, and charismatic Jason Mida to streamline our fundraising activities and connect meaningfully with our widely celebrated Board of Directors. I would like to take a moment to highlight our Board of Directors - without these wonderful, passionate, and accomplished professionals, we would not be operating at such a high level. Our board includes leaders from organizations such as Wal-Mart, RIAA, Verizon, CSC, Bender Consulting Co., American Airlines, NSSTA, Comcast, to innovators of the Americans with Disabilities Act and a handful of incredible visionaries. Thank you for all of your work! With your support, AAPD will continue to launch multiple novel programs and positively impact the lives of those in the disability community. Thank you.

I will keep this short and sweet for now and close by saying, disability rights is a passion of mine for personal reasons. I can’t imagine anything more rewarding than acting in a positive, constructive capacity to affect the world around me, gather great friendships with people that I admire, and most importantly of all, “promote equal opportunity, economic power, independent living, and political participation for people with disabilities.”

If you have any questions about Major Gifts, fundraising, or AAPD; I am always available to speak with you. Thanks for reading!

Warmly,

Zeenia
