Disability Employment |
AAPD recognizes that employment plays a critical role in economic sufficiency and independence for people with disabilities. AAPD is committed to improving employment outcomes for people with disabilities and to reversing the persistently high percentages of people with disabilities who are not working but are ready, willing and able to work.
AAPD supports the development and implementation of employment practices designed to hire, retain, and advance employees with disabilities. Since people can acquire disabilities at any time, it is important that employers design employment practices that consider the needs of all employees. By promoting equality and full access for people with disabilities, employers will create a more productive and cost effective work environment for all employees.
Through the Campaign for Disability Employment, AAPD promotes the message, "At work, it's what people can do that matters." The Campaign for Disability Employment is a collaborative effort to promote positive employment outcomes for people with disabilities by encouraging employers and others to recognize the value and talent they bring to the workplace.
