POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Administrative Assistant Intern
Salary: $12.50
Location: AAPD headquarters, Washington, DC
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer the main phone line:
- Offer resources to general inquires
- Transfer calls to appropriate staff
- Knowledge of services for individuals with disabilities
- Greeting guests:
- Show them to the conference room, offer beverages, and then inform staff of their arrival
- Mail:
- Pick up and open mail each day
- Give all checks to designated staff person
- Give all remaining mail to staff
- Office supplies:
- Maintain a general outlook of levels of office and kitchen supplies
- Coordinate with Accounting to place orders
- Events:
- Assist in coordination of internal events and external events
- Assist in coordination of internal events and external events
- Miscellaneous:
- Assist with miscellaneous tasks with all departments at AAPD, including: Accounting, Development, and Programs
- Help maintain kitchen and office cleanliness
Provide general office support as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will satisfy the following qualifications
Skills/Knowledge
- Strong analytical, writing and communication skills
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Basic knowledge of legislative process
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications
- Proficiency in social media
- IT knowledge Desired
- Passion for people with disabilities, poor and older Americans, with a desire to provide assistance to underserved populations
Education
- Prospective and current students receiving Bachelors or Masters degree in a relevant area of study
