Lawrielle West, Fannie Lou Hamer Leadership Program Coordinator (Consultant)

Born and raised on the Westside of Detroit, Lawrielle knows all about passion, grit and community. As a Liberatory Strategist, she helps people, organizations and businesses reach their goals and get organized. With a background in social work, community organizing and nonprofit strategy and leadership development, Lawrielle is excited to join the AAPD team as the Fannie Lou Hamer Leadership Program Coordinator. Lawrielle has held Organizing Director roles in National and local organizations, held administrative Director roles in grassroots nonprofits, coordinated fellowships, and ran community organizing campaigns. She is committed to being a student of the movement and work by being alumni of training and professional development programs such as BOLD, Training for Change and Build Institute. Lawrielle’s experiences have helped to sharpen her politics around intersectionality, Black Liberation, feminism, and abolition, all while learning to lead with those values at the center. She is committed to creating inclusive, engaging, transformative and educational spaces to all who are ready to be activated, learn, and grow.
