National Disability Voter Registration Week – Voter Training

REV UP Georgia is building the power of the disability vote and we
need your help. We can make sure our elected officials know the
needs of the disability community by learning how to make our vote
count!
We will learn about:
– Information on registering to vote
– Disability issues and how to advocate
for them, and
– How to vote on Election Day
NAMI Georgia Gubernatorial Candidates Forum on Mental Health

NAMI Georgia will host a forum on mental health topics for the candidates seeking to become Georgia’s next Governor. The Forum will be held at Mercer University (3001 Mercer University Drive Atlanta, GA, 30341). To register, you must register for the 2018 NAMI Georgia Annual Conference at www.namiga.org. National Disability Voter Registration Week 2018
July 16-20, 2018 | Atlanta, GA
Voter registration will be available in Shepherd Center’s library, the Noble Learning Resource Center (NLRC), for National Disability Voter Registration Week 2018, July 16-20. The Shepherd Center is located at 2020 Peachtree Rd NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30309. People with disabilities accounted for over 35 million eligible voters in 2016, according to Rutgers University. That figure jumps to over 62 million eligible voters when you count family members in the same household. The disability community has incredible potential to influence the outcome of elections and ensure that all candidates address issues that are important to people with disabilities. NDVRW mobilizes and demonstrates the power of the disability vote.
ADA Voter Awareness

Come by the Shepherd Center Noble Learning Resource Center (2020 Peachtree Rd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30309) for an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Voter Awareness event. Voting booth demos by the Fulton County Voter Education and Outreach Office. Voter registration applications will be available. See sample ballots. On Wednesday, 7/18, the Governor will hold a photo opportunity at 10:30 am where he presents a Proclamation acknowledging Disability Voter Registration Week.
National Voter Registration Drive
September 25, 2018 | 10am-2pm & 4pm-8pm | Clarkston, GA
Join Councilwoman YT Bell, disABILITY Link, and the National Domestic Worker’s Alliance at our National Voter Registration Day tabling event on Tuesday, September 25th 2018 at Refugee Coffee (4170 E Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Clarkston, GA 30021) and various Marta Stations/Bus Stops in Clarkston. We will be registering individuals to vote and updating individual’s voter registration from 10-2pm and 4-8pm. We would love for you to come and engage with your neighbors and advise your family, friends, and clients to come and get registered to exercise their right to vote on November 6. The purpose of the tabling event is to preserve the strengths of our neighborhood, build a sense of community! Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities Candidate Forum on Disability Issues

This event will give Georgians with developmental and intellectual disabilities, their families, and community members the opportunity to hear from candidates running for the offices of Secretary of State, Superintendent of Schools, and State Insurance Commissioner as they speak on issues important to the disability community. This event is free and open to the public, and registration is required.

COST: Free to the public.
