Job Summary
- Position Title: Fall Internship Program Assistant
- Position Level: Assistant
- Job Type: Part-time (10-15 hours per week) from June to December 2023, set hours to be determined by assistant and coordinator
- Reports To: Internship Program Coordinator
- Location: Remote or Hybrid if located in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia area*
- Compensation: $25/hour
* Travel is required for the fall internship program in-person gathering. See below. AAPD will cover travel, lodging, and per diem for the Assistant to attend. Most work for this role can be conducted remotely.
The Fall Internship Program Assistant will work part-time from June through December 2023 to support the launch of AAPD’s new Fall Internship program. The program assistant’s role will include carrying out logistics and administrative tasks, assisting the development of program materials, and scheduling meetings and events for the fall program.
Roles and Responsibilities
The person in this role will support the Program Coordinator to launch AAPD’s fall internship program.
The primary roles of the assistant will be to:
- Review applications, schedule interviews, and support the selection process for the fall cohort.
- Assist in the development of program materials including draft communications, program information forms, and evaluation surveys.
- Communicate effectively with remote fall interns and other AAPD staff regarding program updates.
- Coordinate with other AAPD staff on program logistics including, but not limited to travel arrangements, lodging, event spaces, accommodations, and equipment.
- Reach out to community members to support matching fall interns with virtual mentors.
- Support the Disability Advocacy Certificate Program through brainstorming potential speakers, uploading course materials into the learning management platform, and providing feedback on assignments.
- Support the coordination and logistics for one in-person gathering of the fall cohort and provide on-site logistical support (travel required) from Friday, November 3 – Monday, November 6
Qualifications:
- Previous coordination experience required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Computer experience proficiency related to Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint), virtual platforms (e.g. Zoom, Monday.com, Google Drive), e-mail, and researching information.
- Background knowledge in disability rights, disability justice, and disability policy.
