Why We’re Collecting Stories

Your voice helps shape AAPD’s advocacy and enrich our public awareness. By sharing your experience, you help us understand real-world impacts, identify patterns, and strengthen our work to advance equal opportunity, economic power, independent living, and political participation for people with disabilities.

Our Current Focus: Expiring ACA Subsidies

Impact of Expiring ACA Subsidies

Right now, we are especially seeking stories about how the expiration of Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance subsidies is affecting disabled people and their families. These subsidies help make coverage affordable, and their loss may mean higher costs, loss of coverage, or reduced access to care.

We want to hear how this is impacting health, finances, independence, and daily life.
