April Demsko

Events and Logistics Coordinator

April is the Events and Logistics Coordinator for the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). In this role, she provides coordination and administrative support of programs-related meetings and events.

Prior to employment at AAPD, April served eight years in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, where she worked on Commando Solo and cyber defense missions. As part of the 193rd SOW Enlisted Council, she managed Operation Diaper Dandy, creating baby gift baskets for expectant parents ranked airman basic through technical sergeant. At the Smithsonian National Zoo, April acted as the Special Events Intern for the Diversity in STEM Internship Program, assisting in private events, Zoo programs and membership. 

April holds a B.S. magna cum laude in Marketing from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State Harrisburg with an undergrad thesis titled “Domestic Violence and LGBTQ+ Asians in America.” She volunteered at the WE cARE Food Pantry since its opening in August 2018 and acted as the pantry’s student manager from 2021-2023. Additionally, April was the Marketing and Outreach Intern at the Madlyn L. Hanes Library, where she has helped organize book clubs, author events and informational events as well as displays for heritage and history months.

April is the social media manager for Uplift, a nonprofit dedicated to ending violence in online communities, as well as social media manager and content writer for Asians For Sex Positivity. She also coordinates social events for sapphic Asian communities.
