National Disability Employment Awareness Month is Here!

Let’s Show the World How #InclusionWorks

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is now in full swing, with organizations across the country hosting events and activities to help spread the important message that #InclusionWorks!

With this year’s hashtag theme, we hope that you and your organization will also take your NDEAM spirit online by posting images on social media illustrating how “inclusion works” for you.

Here are some examples of ways you can join the NDEAM effort on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram:

  • Post a photo of employees with disabilities in your workplace, your CEO, or other top leaders, holding a sign that says “#InclusionWorks for (ORGANIZATION NAME).”
  • Post a short video of employees in your office declaring that #InclusionWorks for your organization.
  • Follow the Campaign for Disability Employment (CDE) on social media, and retweet/share its special NDEAM features on both Twitter and Facebook.

These are just a few ideas, and creativity is encouraged. Please remember to include the #InclusionWorks hashtag and to tag AAPD (@AAPD) and the CDE (@CDETweets) as appropriate!

The 2016 NDEAM theme – #InclusionWorks–appears in large white letters on a blue background in the center of the poster. Above the theme in yellow are the words National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Surrounding the theme are three images of people with disabilities working in inclusive workplaces plus three colored boxes with the following messages: Inclusion Works for Business, Inclusion Works for Opportunity and Inclusion Works for Innovation. There is a red box in the lower left corner that includes DOL’s logo with the following words in white underneath: OFFICE OF DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT POLICY, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR and the URL to ODEP’s website dol.gov/odep.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, and have a happy and successful NDEAM 2016!
